This is the quilt that I started at the Camp Chicagami Quilters Retreat that I attended a month ago already! A scrappy looking quilt called Gingersnaps by Moda. Bought the kit a couple of summers ago and decided it was time to cut into the yummy Moda fabrics! It's easy and a great project if you need something that doesn't require much "Focus Pocus Power" that might distract you from gabbing with the fabulous quilter gals who shared this fun weekend retreat.
Sue (blue shirt/light vest) is on the left side listening in while Wendy over on the right (center) is asking questions of the quilters who are working on the Square Dance quilts. The quilt tops are squares sewn together (borders too) as the pink and orange above, then a template is used to cut it up again so it can be re-sewn to look like this. This turns out to be a beautiful quilt top! Wendy and Sue are fellow Quilters Coop (LQS) Quilters.
Back to the story...
This block reminds me of the kittens over at Ginger Patches. They found three tiny kittens, somehow they were left behind in their back yard a few weeks ago and they match this fabric nicely! Now, rather than thinking about cookies when I look at this quilt I think of tiny orange kitties. Lower cal thoughts...you know how it is.There are other things brewing in the sewing room, but no actual sewing going on for a bit. Can't wait to be back among the land of the quilters. Big hugs to all of you and happy quilting!!

Where can I find the square dance quilt pattern? That looks very interesting....
ReplyDeleteThanks for the quilt show!!
nice quilt........
ReplyDeleteAre you feeling better now?
ReplyDeleteI don't think that I could make a whole quilt top and then start cutting it up and sewing it back together. It is beautiful though.
ReplyDeleteAre you starting to feel stronger? I hope so. (((((HUGS)))))
Love your Gingersnaps quilt Kim, is that a quilting system I see poking out of the corner of the photo? Hope you're feeling a little better today.
ReplyDeleteYes, Linda! That is my new Grace Pinnacle sticking out there, waiting for someone to come along and use it!
ReplyDeleteOh they do match that fabric!! Much better to think of kittens than cookies lol!
ReplyDeleteI have a pattern that calls for sewing and re-cutting and it looks pretty simple...but it kinda scares me lol. I do the twisted nine patch thing a lot, but to do a whole top and then cut it has me shakin' in my boots...well flip flops actually :)
