Midwest Pride

Here she is!  All ready for quilting to do it's magic.

I think I'll do it by hand...but I may decide to machine quilt it.   I might even put it on my new Grace Pinnacle quilt frame!  We'll see what comes...I know Tom would love to see me use that
 beautiful frame.  I've had that frame for nearly a year so I'm pretty sure he would like to see that happen real soon!  

Then a Tan Dye bath or a little spritz here and there to add more Prim to the Primitive look it's supposed to have.  Looks too "new" right now.  I'm happy with the way it looks so far...so is Schuster,  he's doing so much better since his surgery.  Nice to see him happily snuggled in with Simon while enjoying the afternoon sun.

As for Lucy.  See her there in the background? She's laying there at her "post".  She's on duty,  fearlessly guarding the house from HUGE and ferocious Red Squirrels, lol, this is serious work!  

Spring is on it's way.  We saw our first Robin of the season already!

  2. OHHH I love it, love it.... I may be cutting more homespuns out since I have them all out. It will only get better with the quilting and I like the tan dye bath idea.
    You have some cute kitties, and guard dog there.

  5. Your quilt turned out very nice!! What will you spritz it with to give it a prim look? And Lucy--silly dog!! I'm glad my windows are high enough Ruby has not learned to watch out them---but she will watch out the screen door and I'm afraid one of these days she may try to jump thru the screen!

  11. I love it!!!! Now I really want to get going on mine. Use that frame girl!!! You will love it once you get used to it.

    I woke this morning to the robins singing! All of our snow is gone and it was in the high 50's yesterday. Not sure that I am ready for the gardening and yard work yet though. hehe

  12. Love the quilt! Esp like the sunflower. We have had robins for a month or so. Of course, we are in a drought and the trees are starting to bud too. That means we will get one of those heavy wet spring snow storms that crack tree limbs. :(

    THe quilt is beautiful. I have been meaning to make one of those primitive style quilts with applique involved, as soon as my applique skills improve. THanks for the inspiration.

  14. Kim, you know I love your quilt! I like the photo of it with the snow on the ground. You know if the quilt was all the way done, you could be cuddling up with it on the sofa as it sure does look cold there. I hope the robin is a sure sign of spring on the way for you.
    The Simon & Garfunkel music sure takes me back a ways! I always liked their songs.

  22. Love the Midwest Pride! You did a beautiful job. (And now I must come back later and see what a Minnesota quilt looks like and how it differs.) After all that work I'd be too terrified to tea dye or age a quilt! I'll be checking back to see if you use your Grace frame to quilt it. It would be helpful to hear some real owner's comments about it. I'm so tempted to buy one, but - to be honest - I'd probably have to get rid of the guest room to have a spot for it. So I'm still deliberating.

  37. Wow, Kim, that is magnificent! The color is rich and your Midwestern iconography is so friendly. Whoever snuggles under that will be in a real comfort zone. Unless they decide to hang it on the wall and gaze at it for hours on end.

  38. P.S. My grandmothers hand-stitched their quilts and I had a few handed down to me. They are treasures.
